DETROIT: NOW AND THEN

Detroiturbex - a website dedicated to raising awareness of the social and economic challenges the city of Detroit faces through photography - have created a new series entitled “Now and Then.” Taken in the now dilapidated and abandoned Lewis Cass Technical High School, the series shows us the striking difference between the boom years of the establishment and its current state by combining old and new images. For the full series, head over toDetroiturbex.com.

PAULA NELSON DOCUMENTS THE AFTERMATH OF HURRICANE SANDY
| Labelled one of the most severe storms to hit the Eastern seaboard in recent history, Hurricane Sandy devastated the lives of thousands, plunging eight million people into darkness and causing damage upwards of $20 billion (estimates go as high as $50 billion). As people begin to get back on their feet, photographer Paula Nelson documented the beginnings of a load road to rebuilding. In the collection of images we see everything from washed away houses and collapsed fairgrounds to flooded underground stations and people returning to work.|
