PANORAMA OF MARS BY NASA
NASA have revealed a stunning new panoramic image of Mars taken by the Pancam on the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity over a period of five months. The incredibly detailed photograph was compiled from 817 different images and captures everything from the Rover’s tracks to a 14-mile wide crater created billions of years ago and which, according to scientists, could hold evidence of ancient water.
The release of this impressive image coincides with two milestones - Opportunity completing its 3,000th Martian day and NASA continuing past 15 years of robotic presence at Mars (Mars Pathfinder landed July 4, 1997).
